haiku blossomed out of serendipity and inspiration.
I used to own a hand-loomed sweater design business but I moved to New York and my apartment was tiny. It was so small, I could touch opposite walls at the same time while doing sun salutes in my kitchen. No room for knitting machines, I knew my something big was going to have to be something smaller. It came to me: handbags!
Years later, I was in school, writing a business plan for my handbag company and trying to find a niche I felt passionate about when I was called to Japan. Our adoption had come through and we went to pick up our daughter in Tokyo!
I came back with a newborn baby and a newfound inspiration—haiku—a handbag company founded on the concept of beauty and utility.
As our daughter grew, so did the scope of the company. But as we evolve, all haiku by sharon eisenhauer products maintain that unique combination of both fashion and function.
A bag that’s just beautiful isn’t haiku enough. A bag that’s just functional isn’t haiku enough. To qualify, to be haiku enough, a bag must be the perfect union of style and substance.
